WARRANTYS, RETURNS AND EXCHANGESQ. What is the workmanship warranty on your diapers?A. Mother of Eden's workmanship warranty is as follows: - Snap Defects - 18 months
- Elastic Defects - 60 days
- Sewing/Workmanship Defects - 60 days
Diaper will NOT be replaced with new product or refunded due to repelling, shot elastic, leaking, or size discrepancies. FuzziBunzOnline.com We Guarantee(tm): FuzziBunzOnline.com guarantees Fuzzi Bunz will work for you. What is the procedure for getting my Fuzzi Bunz repaired or replaced if they are under warranty?A. If you experience any defects covered by the manufacturer's workmanship warranty, please fill out the Fuzzi Bunz Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form located at: http://www.fuzzibunz.com/product_support.php. All warranty requests must have a proof of purchase receipt. NO EXCEPTIONS. After submitting the RMA form, you will receive an automated email confirming receipt and instructing you to send your diapers for repair, along with your assigned code and your proof of purchase receipt. Any product returned for repair must be free from offensive odor or foreign particles (hair, lint, feces). Mother of Eden will NOT handle/repair products that are not in clean and acceptable condition. Back to Top Q. My diapers are malfunctioning and they are out of the warranty period OR I do not have a proof of purchase. What do I do? A. If your diapers are out of the warranty period and have experienced a defect, Mother of Eden may replace the product - at their discretion - with new second quality diapers. (These are diapers with minor manufacturing flaws.) They will replace with the same size, but the color may vary. They try to substitute the closest color as possible to the original color. Please contact Mother of Eden at info@fuzzibunzservice.com with your non-warranty concern or issue. Back to Top Q. I have diapers of the same size, but they seem like they are sized a bit differently?A. Mother of Eden has strict quality control process in place, but Fuzzi Bunz diapers are made individually by humans not machines. If your Fuzzi Bunz of the same size are more than half an inch in variance and cause major fit problems, please email info@fuzzibunzservice.com. Mother of Eden will replace the mis-sized diapers with new diapers. They can only do this, however, within the warranty period and with proof of purchase. Back to Top WASH AND CARE INSTRUCTIONSQ. Do I need to pre-wash my Fuzzi Bunz?A. When you first get your Fuzzi Bunz, try them on your baby for fit BEFORE washing. If they fit, yes, you should wash the diapers before wearing. Back to Top Q. How do I wash my Fuzzi Bunz?A. Here are some simple instructions to caring and washing your diapers: Fuzzi Bunz are single-use diapers. Wash both the Fuzzi Bunz and the insert after each use. When wet, separate insert and Fuzzi Bunz and store in a dry diaper pail. If soiled, simply knock solids into toilet. Small solids stuck to the fleece will dissolve in the wash. Use a mini-shower toilet attachment to rinse off soiled diapers over the toilet (optional). - First, run a cold rinse or soak cycle with no detergent.
- Second, run a hot cycle with detergent (see Recommended Brands). Do not use bleach.
- Third, if your hot wash is not automatically followed by a cold rinse, run a cold rinse cycle. This step only necessary with a particularly dirty load.
- Tumble dry the diapers in dryer on low or hang to dry. Do not use fabric softener or pure soap*. Never dry on high heat.
Back to Top Q. I have decided to use a hemp insert inside my Fuzzi Bunz instead of a micro terry insert. Are there any special washing instructions I should know about? A. If you are using a hemp insert, you should wash these separately from your Fuzzi Bunz for the first 6-8 washings. Hemp is an untreated fabric and contain natural oils that, if initially washed with Fuzzi Bunz, can cause some problems with repelling. By washing 6-8 times in hot water (drying in between cycles) this removes oils and makes the inserts ready to use with your Fuzzi Bunz. Back to Top Q. Should I use hot water to wash Fuzzi Bunz? If so, how hot? A. Yes, it is okay to use hot water to wash your Fuzzi Bunz, even on the hottest setting. Keep in mind, however, that you should dry your diapers on a low setting in your dryer. Back to Top Q. What kind of detergent is recommended to use with Fuzzi Bunz?A. The detergent we recommend are Allen's Naturally, Charlie's Soap, or Ecover. Grocery store brands are fine, but you need to stay away from Free & Clear, detergents with bleach, or baby versions of soap. Please note that most detergents sold in health food stores are NOT suitable for Fuzzi Bunz because they use citrus oils as a surfactant - what gets stuff clean. Citrus oils will cause repelling because oil and water do not mix. We have tested many natural detergents for use with Fuzzi Bunz and Allen's Naturally, Charlie's Soap, and Ecover are the only three detergents that we have found that have been successful at cleaning Fuzzi Bunz and ARE natural alternatives to store-bought detergents. Soap products such as Dr. Bronner's will leave soap scum on the fabric. Dreft has softeners which cause repelling as well. Back to Top Q. Can I use a "natural" detergent to clean my diapers?A. Many laundry detergents contain coconut oil surfactants. Coconut oil surfactants is also know as coconut fatty acid: Cocamides are manufactured by condensation of alkanolamines (mono-, di-, or triethanolamine) and coconut fatty acid. Examples are cocamide MEA (cocamide monoethanolamine), cocamide DEA (cocamide diethanolamine) and cocamide TEA (cocamide triethanolamine). They act as lubricant agent, thickening agent and wetting agent. Their very good emulsifying property also provides applications in the field of pharmaceuticals, agricultural preparations, and textile processing; rust inhibiting, latex stabilizing, anti-static function in textiles, dye-leveling, waterproofing and water-in-oil additives as well as very good emulsifying. Read more. We strongly, very strongly, advise NOT to use detergents that have coconut / natural oil surfactants. These detergents will cause leaking and repelling on any type of cloth diaper.
We highly recommend Charlies Soap as the best natural detergent as it does not contain these ingredients. Back to Top Q. I have researched on the internet and some companies say Free and Clear detergents are fine for washing Fuzzi Bunz and some do not. Can you tell me if free and clear detergents are OK to use with Fuzzi Bunz? A. Free and clear detergents are great for clothing, but they are known to leave soap residue on fleece diapers. Usually if we receive an email about leaking, 9 times out of 10 a free and clear detergent was used. We have to recommend against using these types of detergents. We recommend either Allens Naturally or Charlie's Soap. If you prefer to use a grocery store brand, just be sure to use 1/2 of the recommended amount and stay away from baby versions, with bleach, and free and clear versions. Back to Top Q. I have a front loader or High Efficiency washer. What detergent should I use? A. Any washing detergent recommended by Fuzzi Bunz should be adequate. Use 1/6 of the recommended amount for a front loader. If there are too many suds, reduce your amount of liquid. If the diapers are not getting clean enough, increase your liquid. Back to Top Q. Can I use diaper rash ointments and creams on my baby if s/he is wearing a Fuzzi Bunz? A. Diaper rash ointments cause diapers to repel and not function properly. If you mistakenly get diaper rash ointment on your diaper, wash your diapers normally then apply some dishwashing liquid to the affected area. Scrub the affected area with a toothbrush or other bristle brush. While this is a suggested method, it may not always work. Diapers affected by diaper rash ointments are not covered by our warranty. Back to Top Q. I heard that you can use Dawn dish detergent to wash diapers, is this true? A. I don't recommend Dawn detergent as many versions contain oils and enzymes that will make the fleece on the diapers repel liquid. Any type of dish detergent is also very harsh on the diapers and will make them wear out. Back to Top Q. I read that hard water can cause repelling, and I am wondering what I can do. A. You can add a very small amount of Calgon water softener if you have hard water. CALGON® Water Softener boosts the power of your laundry detergent by removing hard water minerals that trap dirt into fabric fibers. It also helps to prevent detergent build-up and soap scum that can cause repelling/leaking with cloth diapers. Read more about Calgon Water Softener. Back to Top Q. Will my colors run if I wash them on hot?A. It is always a good idea to wash your Fuzzi Bunz on cold first if you are concerned about the colors running, but we have never experienced any problems in the past with colors running. Back to Top TROUBLESHOOTINGQ. How do I get out stains from my Fuzzi Bunz? A. Stains can be caused by different foods, illnesses and medications. The good news is that stains do not affect the utility of your Fuzzi Bunz. To remove stains (if desired), we suggest laying them out in the sun for several hours at a time (several times for tough stains). Stains are not covered by our warranty. Back to Top Q. My Fuzzi Bunz are leaking even though the insert is hardly wet. What do I do? A. Leaking is often a result of diapers repelling moisture. Repelling occurs when there is residue build up from soaps, detergents, ointments, or hard water that can build up on the fleece. This is often (but not always) caused by improper care of the diapers. We recommend you do the following to resolve any repelling issues: - First, run a cold rinse or soak cycle with no detergent.
- Second, run a hot cycle with no detergent and add 4-5 scoops of Oxiclean regular detergent (powder form).
You made need to do this 2-3 times depending on how bad the build up. That is: wash-dry, wash-dry, and wash-dry. If you are still having problems, use a capful of a water softener, such as Calgon. Continue washing on hot and rinsing on cold until all the suds run clear. Hang dry. Back to Top Q. My diapers are drooping or the elastic is wearing out and my diapers are past warranty. What can I do? A. Fuzzi Bunz are built to last for a long time, but like with any product that gets washed a lot, they will not last forever. There are a few things you can do to fix the elastic. With a seam ripper, gently unstitch the seam that encases the elastic in the legs. Turn the Fuzzi Bunz inside out. Where the original elastic started, re-sew new elastic in with a sewing machine by pulling gently on the elastic while sewing with a zig zag stitch. Repeat on the other side. You can now turn the Fuzzi Bunz right side out and re-stitch the leg casings down if you wish, or you can leave them un-encased. For the back elastic, un-stitch the hemmed part, sew in new elastic following the instructions above, and re-stitch down the fold.
If you do not know how to sew, a seamstress or alterations person may be able to help you for minimal charge. Back to Top Q. The inside of my diaper is sticky, how do I fix this?A. This is perfectly normal. The outer layer is laminated with a polyurethane lining to prevent leaks. Some people see this as being sticky. Back to Top Q. My diapers smell of ammonia when baby wets, why? A. Ammonia smell is caused by detergent residue and the combination of urine. Run your diapers through the wash again and be sure to use the manufacturer's recommended detergents. Back to Top Q. My diapers are persistently smelling, can you help? A. Wash your diapers and inserts in hot water with no detergent and 2-3 scoops of oxiclean versatile powder (not the free version). You may need to do this 2-3 times (drying in between cycles). This usually does the trick at removing odors, build up , etc. Do this once a week as a maintenance routine to keep your diapers smelling fresh. If your Fuzzi Bunz system still smells, you can use regular bleach on the inserts (not on the Fuzzi Bunz). Add 1 cup of bleach in hot water with no detergent and add your inserts only. Back to Top Q. What does “stripping” the diapers mean, and should I be doing it? A. We have had many theories (as have others) on what is called "stripping" diapers. This is plain ole upkeep and something that should be done every now and then in taking care of your diapers and prolonging their life. Although our diapers typically don't have these problems, on occasion we do receive questions involving persistent stink, stickiness, repelling fleece (or residue buildup on the fleece), fleece that stays wet*, or leaking diapers. 1. Get a good detergent like Allen's Naturally or Charlie's Soap. 2. Run all of your diapers through a plain water hot wash. 3. Run all of your diapers through a hot wash with 4-5 scoops of Oxiclean regular powder. DO NOT add laundry detergent. 4. If the problem is bad, repeat step three. 5. Run a cold rinse. If you have hard water, you may want to add a water softener such as Baking Soda or Calgon Water Softener to soften your water and help release any left over detergent. 6. If you still see bubbles in your rinse, run another cold rinse. 7. You can either sun your diapers or tumble dry on low.
A good way to tell if your repelling problem is fixed is to take a nasal aspirator and put an insert into the pocket. Fill the nasal aspirator with water and put it close to the fleece and "pee" on the diaper with the aspirator. If the water goes through, your repelling problem should be fixed. *The fleece used in Fuzzi Bunz is a proprietary fleece designed to our specifications and needs. Our fleece is designed to absorb water quickly, dry to the touch quickly and resist residue buildup. Back to Top DIAPER RASHES AND YEAST Q. My baby has diaper rash. What do you recommend since I can't use a diaper rash ointment with my Fuzzi Bunz?A. While babies using Fuzzi Bunz get far less diaper rashes, they can occur on occasion. Do not use any diaper rash ointment while using Fuzzi Bunz. We recommend changing the diaper often and allowing the baby to air dry as much as possible. You can also use a combination of a zinc oxide and cornstarch powder on baby's bottom to aid in healing. Back to Top Q. My baby had a yeast infection, how can I treat the diapers for yeast?A. If your child has had a yeast infection, washing your diapers in hot water with a few drops of tea tree oil should treat the diapers. Back to Top DAY-TO-DAY USAGEQ. Back to Top Q. I am pregnant with my first baby and not sure what size to get. I know that babies grow so fast, so I am wondering if I can skip the size small and put my baby in a medium when she is born. Can I do this?A. With any type of cloth diaper, you need to select the correct size diaper for the baby. With clothing you can get away with sizing up. If you size up with diapers, however, it will only lead to leaking. Even a heavier newborn needs to be in a size small at birth. Back to Top Q. How should I store my diapers between washings?A. Store used diapers in an open air pail or hanging diaper pail to let air circulate. A closed pail may cause mold if you let the diapers sit too long between washings. Back to Top Q. Do I have to use a plastic cover over my Fuzzi Bunz?A. No plastic cover is needed with Fuzzi Bunz. Back to Top Q. Can I use flushable liners with my Fuzzi Bunz?A. Yes, you can use flushable liners with your Fuzzi Bunz. Most of the time, however, bowel movements will fall off or can be knocked off the fleece. Back to Top Q. My baby's diaper leaks upon waking at nap or nighttime.A. Some babies wet more than others. If you experience persistent leaking, we recommend adding more inserts to the pocket during nap and nighttime. Back to Top Q. I am using Fuzzi Bunz, putting 2 inserts inside the pocket, and I am still having leaks. What can I do?A. We recommend switching to either a hemp terry insert or a prefold diaper to stuff inside your Fuzzi Bunz. The prefold diaper would be the most absorbent choice but can be a bit bulky for daytime, so this is a good nighttime solution. Back to Top Q. How often do I need to change my baby?A. You should change your baby's diaper when it is wet or soiled. For a newborn, this may mean 12 or more times a day. For a toddler who is just about ready to begin potty training, you will probably change diapers only 4-6 times a day. Back to Top Q. How many diapers to I need to order?A. We suggest that you order 24 diapers to start. You'll probably do a load of laundry every night or every other night, depending on how many diapers changes you average per day. Many moms add to and even double their collection as they go along Back to Top Q. My husband and I are considering cloth diapering part-time. We are interested in using Fuzzi Bunz while taking care of our baby at home and then using disposables when on the go or when others are watching him (which will only be a couple of hours a day for 2-3 days a week). How many diapers would be a good amount to start with if I don't want to do laundry every day?A. If you want to use cloth diapers part time, you will want a minimum of 6 if you are just cloth diapering at night time and up to 12 if you plan to cloth diaper part time and wash every other day. Back to Top Q. How much laundry will I do?A. Depending on how many Fuzzi Bunz you have, it's likely you'll be doing laundry every 2-3 days. Back to Top Q. Is it true the diapers become more absorbent the more they are washed?A. Yes and no. We have found that the inserts can hold more moisture after they have been washed several times. Multiple washings after that may not additionally affect the diapers. Back to Top ACCESSORIESQ. What accessories do you recommend I get to go along with my Fuzzi Bunz purchase?A. We recommend a few accessories to make your Fuzzi Bunz experience more pleasant. First, you may like a washable and reusable hanging diaper pail or diaper pail liner. Second, you may also opt to buy a Diaper Sprayer (this hangs on your toilet and enables you to spray the diapers over your toilet as necessary). And third, we also recommend you purchase a wet tote, which is a small reusable and washable bag that you can store dirty Fuzzi Bunz in while on the road. Back to Top |
